Successful yacht brokerage is ultimately about much more than boats.
It requires an understanding of people, how they intend to use their yacht, the practical realities of ownership and the many decisions involved in buying or selling a significant asset.
At The Yacht Sales Co.’s Phuket Sales Centre at Yacht Haven Marina, Senior Sales Consultant Charles Robinson and Sales Consultant Jay Monney bring two very different but complementary backgrounds to their work with yacht buyers and sellers.
Together, they offer local knowledge, extensive marine experience and the support of The Yacht Sales Co.’s international brokerage network.

A local brokerage base in Phuket
Located at Yacht Haven Marina, close to Phuket International Airport and the cruising grounds of the Andaman Sea, The Yacht Sales Co.’s Phuket operation is focused on helping clients buy and sell quality pre-owned yachts.
The local team is backed by a global network spanning 14 locations across 11 countries, providing Phuket clients with access to expertise and buyer connections well beyond Thailand.
That combination is particularly valuable in a destination as international as Phuket, where a yacht located locally may ultimately be purchased by someone from another part of the world, while a Phuket-based buyer may find their ideal vessel in another market altogether.

Meet Charles Robinson, Senior Sales Consultant in Phuket

For Charles Robinson, a career in yacht brokerage is the natural continuation of a life spent around the water.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Charles developed an early love of boating before travelling extensively and eventually settling in Southeast Asia.
His career has taken him through a broad range of marine roles, including yacht operations, deliveries, cruising and yacht management. Today, that practical boating background is combined with extensive sales experience to help clients make informed decisions when buying or selling.
Charles believes successful brokerage starts with listening.
Understanding what a client genuinely wants to achieve, rather than simply focusing on the transaction itself, allows a broker to provide advice that is relevant to the owner’s individual circumstances.
His experience across different aspects of the marine industry also gives him a practical perspective on yachts and ownership, particularly valuable when discussing suitability, maintenance and cruising requirements.
For Charles, one of the most rewarding aspects of the role is the people behind each yacht.
Every client has a different story, whether they are purchasing their first boat, preparing for a long-distance cruising adventure, moving into something different or selling after years of ownership.
Meet Jay Monney, Sales Consultant in Phuket

Jay Monney brings an equally distinctive marine background to The Yacht Sales Co.’s Phuket team.
Born into a family with a history of shipbuilding in Italy and Switzerland, Jay’s connection with boating began at an early age.
He later spent 17 years working in the diving industry, guiding aboard liveaboard vessels throughout Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia.
His marine career subsequently expanded into yacht surveying. In 2016, Jay trained as a surveyor for Yachts and Small Crafts through the Maritime Training Academy in Portsmouth, graduating with merit before establishing a marine surveying and consultancy business in Phuket.
That combination of practical marine knowledge and surveying experience gives Jay a valuable perspective when assisting yacht buyers and owners.
He is also highly multilingual, speaking seven languages and writing in six, a particularly useful attribute when working within Phuket’s diverse international boating community.
Why does broker experience matter?
No two yacht transactions are exactly the same.
A buyer may need help deciding whether a yacht genuinely meets their intended cruising requirements. A seller may need advice on pricing and preparation before the yacht reaches the market. Surveys may identify issues that require further discussion, and negotiations need to balance the interests of all parties while keeping the transaction progressing.
Experience matters at each of those stages.
The role of a professional broker is not simply to connect a buyer and seller, but to provide informed advice, manage the process and help clients make decisions with greater confidence.
Charles and Jay’s varied backgrounds give Phuket clients access to practical boating, sales, surveying and regional knowledge within one local team.

Local expertise with international support
Although Charles and Jay work directly with clients in Phuket, they are supported by The Yacht Sales Co.’s wider international brokerage network.
For buyers, that can mean access to yachts beyond the local market and assistance with opportunities listed elsewhere.
For sellers, it means a yacht based in Thailand can be promoted to an international audience through a network of sales consultants, trusted brokerage relationships and an established database of prospective buyers.
It is this combination of personal local service and international reach that sits behind The Yacht Sales Co.’s promise to be Your Partner at Every Port.
Whether you are looking to buy a pre-owned yacht in Phuket, preparing to sell or simply seeking knowledgeable advice about your next step, the Phuket team at Yacht Haven Marina is available to help.
