Thailand International Boat Show Fuels Growth of Luxury Tourism in Thailand

A Major Event Showcasing Thailand's Marine Wealth and Cultural Diplomacy

Phuket, 9 January 2025 – The third edition of the Thailand International Boat Show was inaugurated today by the Prime Minister of Thailand, Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

The ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries and guests from both central and local government, including Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour; Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports; Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand; and Mr. Sophon Suwannarat, Governor of Phuket.

Additionally, esteemed industry stakeholders were present, such as Mr. Ditapong Thitadilok and Mr. Thakoon Boonmak from Port Macchanu, alongside other leaders in Thai tourism. The opening ceremony underscored the show’s significance as a catalyst for economic growth in luxury tourism and a platform for promoting Thailand’s cultural diplomacy while enhancing the sustainable development of the marine sector.

Scheduled from 9 to 12 January 2025 at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, the organizers anticipate over 6,000 attendees from around the globe to participate in this expanded event. Guests will have the opportunity to explore a remarkable array of boats and onshore exhibitors showcasing record-breaking offerings this year.

Mr. David Hayes, CEO of JAND Events, the organization behind the Thailand International Boat Show, emphasized the event’s pivotal role in supporting Thailand’s marine tourism industry, stating, “The Thailand International Boat Show exemplifies the pinnacle of Thailand’s yachting and luxury lifestyle sectors.

This year’s exhibition features 54 boats ranging from day vessels to superyachts, accompanied by a variety of marine gadgets, boat services, charter agents, lifestyle products, and luxury real estate. Cessna and Beechcraft by Textron Aviation will return as presenting sponsors for the VIP Lounge, which is being hosted aboard the superyacht Lady Eileen II for the first time. Additionally, the Exhibitors and Captain’s Lounge will debut on the superyacht Free Bird.

Aside from exhibitor displays, the event will also include restaurants, pop-up shops, and a range of activities throughout the Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, catering to visitors of all ages. Special Children’s Day activities are scheduled for Saturday, 11 January.

The Thailand Yachting Conference, held on the eve of the show, attracted 150 delegates and expert speakers from across the Asia-Pacific region. Together, the conference and the show establish a comprehensive B2B2C platform that connects industry stakeholders and promotes Thailand’s marine leisure industry on a global scale.
