Hiring a construction company in Phuket usually means hiring four of them: a builder, an engineer, a joiner and an electrician. Four schedules, four invoices, and an owner left to referee between them. Behind the name Indo Construction sit three separate companies, deliberately organised so that never happens.
It started in Bangkok, in 1992
Liberto Heras-Gomez founded Indo Construction and Engineering – I.C.E. – with a handful of employees who had followed him across sites around the world. The company settled into two divisions: a construction division handling the structure from design to handover, and a mechanical division for electrical systems, air conditioning and plumbing.
That pairing let I.C.E. take on work of very different scales, from industrial buildings to high-end residential, against one fixed standard: deliver to international specification. The group now employs more than 500 people.
I.C.P., the team on the ground in Phuket
Indo Construction Phuket (I.C.P.) was created in 2005 to concentrate on the island. It runs the large majority of the group’s Phuket sites: private villas, residences, restaurants, hotels and renovations.
Its usefulness is its range. I.C.P. can carry a project from the first study to the handing over of keys, whatever the size. For an owner based in Phuket, this is the first point of contact – the people coordinating trades on site and reporting week by week.
3LH, the part that finishes the job
The youngest of the three was set up in 2009 for a specific gap: bespoke furniture and aluminium joinery — windows, doors and frames — which follow every build and every renovation.
Rather than depend on outside subcontractors for the elements that largely decide how a finished project looks, the group brought the skill in-house. 3LH runs its own fabrication workshop, and that workshop can travel to site to fit each piece properly.
What one point of responsibility actually changes
Three companies is not an organisational chart for its own sake. It means the group can answer every stage of a project without going outside for the technical parts: engineering and method at I.C.E., execution and site coordination at I.C.P., furniture and finishes at 3LH.
For the client that becomes a single line of responsibility. The trades talk to each other instead of leaving the owner to arbitrate between independent suppliers — which is to say, doing a site manager’s job without being paid for it.
